The Rockets played in the NBA from 1969-74. In 1974, anticipating their move to the NBA in 1976, the team held a contest to choose a new name, since the Rockets already existed in Houston. Nuggets was the winner, chosen in honor of the first basketball team in Denver. From 1948-50 the "original" Denver Nuggets played in both the BAA and NBL, before folding in 1950. 100% Polyester.
